There is a time to quit. Let’s start there.

This devotional is not intended to keep everyone from quitting. If Ecclesiastes 3 is accurate, than surely there is a time to quit. As a matter of fact, wisdom calls on us to quit if what we’re doing isn’t wise. But left to its own, the river of “quit” will default to the path of least resistance and not the path of the divine.

This devotional is out of personal experience.

I'm not writing it because there is a literary leadership niche that needs to be filled. The idea was born out of a season in leadership where I wanted to quit every day. Every day I questioned my call and my actions. Every day things seemed to get worse instead of better. The desire to quit didn’t last all day, but it did come every day. In navigating these waters, there were passages of Scripture and stories which helped me greatly.

This thirty-one day devotional is designed for leaders who are questioning their role and need to make a decision: stay or go.

Each day you will be challenged to ask questions, evaluate your position, consider timing, and prayerfully seek Divine guidance. On this journey, you will be released to rest, encouraged to breathe, and hopefully arrive at the decision which is right for you.

If this sounds like you:

  1. Email me your story. I care deeply about leaders because I've been blessed to have leaders invest in me, and so I'd love to hear what you're going through - you can email me here.

  2. Sign up to get 7 encouraging, brutally honest devotionals emailed to you. In the coming months, I'm going to pick out what I believe are the 7 most helpful chapters, and then give them away. You can sign up below.

Eventually, the darkness I faced fled and I lived to see a breakthrough. There’s nothing like it. My prayer is on this journey you will hear the Voice behind you and walk forward with confidence.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, there will be a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” (Isaiah 30:21)
